Dr. Ken Charleston, PT, DPT
As a life-long scholastic wrestler, I sustained quite a few musculoskeletal injuries; none more nagging than a back injury I had during my sophomore year. The injury sidelined me on and off for several months as I attempted to find a way to resolve the symptoms. Nothing seemed to work, that is until I sought the care of a physical therapist. The physical therapist worked closely with me to create a plan of care to address my symptoms and the impairments associated with my back injury and ensure a safe return to the mat. I discovered the power of physical therapy and the great difference physical therapists can make in their patient’s lives. During my rehab process I gained more than a symptom free back, I gained an admiration for the profession and was inspired to pursue a career in physical therapy.
With a career in physical therapy in mind, I attended and received my Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology from Temple University in 2012. I went on to receive my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Dominican College of Blauvelt in 2016. During my graduate studies, I worked as a personal trainer which fostered my skills of movement analysis and knowledge of exercise progression. I was also fortunate to have had several clinical affiliations in the outpatient setting where I evaluated and treated a wide variety of orthopedic and neurological patients encompassing a full spectrum of severities. I have a special interest in manual therapy and treatment of the spine and treating musculoskeletal injuries of the lower extremity. Providing high quality physical therapy services to my patients and advancing the profession of physical therapy is most important to me. With that being said, I am constantly reading and continually striving to stay current with the most evidence-based practice techniques available to benefit my patients.
When I am not at Kinetic Physical Therapy, I love to work out; especially power lifting and working with kettlebells. I also enjoy spending time outdoors golfing and hiking with my girlfriend, Mary and our 2 dogs, Philly and Jersey.
