Dr. Kristin Howard, PT, DPT
My interest in becoming a physical therapist began early, when I found myself attending physical therapy for dance related injuries in high school. As I progressed in my dance training, I discovered a fascination with anatomy and its relationship to human movement and injuries. This led me to obtaining my B.S in Health and Exercise Science from Wake Forest University, and then graduating at the top of my class with Doctor of Physical Therapy from New York Medical College.
I enjoy treating a variety of patients, but have a special interest in orthopedics and sports rehabilitation, with a focus on dance injuries and back/neck pain. I get great satisfaction out of helping my patients to achieve and maintain a pain-free, healthy life – whether that involves playing tennis, running a marathon, or walking to the grocery store and back comfortably.
I regularly seek out continuing education opportunities to further develop my skills and to stay current on treatment techniques. I have taken multiple courses in dance medicine, shoulder and knee injuries, and manual therapy for the spine. I am also an active member in the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science and the orthopedic, sports, and performing arts groups of the American Physical Therapy Association.
When not at work, I love spending time with my husband and our adorable Maltese puppy. I enjoy reading, staying active, and taking dance classes whenever possible.
