Dr. Carolyn Harmuth, DPT
I began my Physical Therapy journey as a student at Lock Haven University where I earned a BS degree in Fitness Management. . Following graduation from LHU, I began working for the Hershey Medical Center / University Fitness Center, where I worked as a personal trainer/fitness instructor. As I began working within the fitness industry my interests turned to studying the mechanics of motion with respect to the human anatomy, and uncovering subtle imbalances which in turn lead to dysfunction and injury. I was quickly recruited to work in an outpatient physical therapy clinic as a PT Technician where I had the opportunity to learn the art of Physical therapy and was encouraged to further my education in the field.
In 1997 I graduated from Central Pennsylvania College and continued to work in the outpatient physical therapy setting as a Physical Therapist Assistant. After several years of working as a PTA I decided to return to school and went on to receive my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Neumann University in 2010. I joined the Kinetic Physical therapy and Human Performance Center team in February of 2011. Working in Physical Therapy continues to be an exciting and rewarding profession and I am looking forward to a future of continual learning and piecing together the biomechanical puzzles we see in the clinic on a daily basis. My special interests include foot and ankle biomechanics, gait analysis, and lower extremity rehabilitation. Outside of the clinic, I enjoy spending time outdoors participating in activities such as running, biking, and golfing, and I’m always looking for a good book to read. Most of all, I enjoy spending time in the company of my friends and family.
