Custom Orthotics and Gait Analysis
Kinetic Physical Therapy realizes that human locomotion is a fascinating and complex area presenting a unique challenge in understanding abnormalities of movement. In this specialized area of our practice we will evaluate our client’s posture, flexibility, strength, and foot structure to determine any abnormalities which may be present. Using the information from the anatomic assessment we will then evaluate the client during movement for any biomechanical abnormalities. This may be done either at normal speed during functional activities or by using video analysis in order to better assess movement at slower speeds. Once we feel we have a thorough understanding of the abnormities present, we formulate a comprehensive plan to treat the pathology.
Kinetic’s treatment approach includes, but is not limited to, stretching and strengthening throughout the trunk and lower extremities to restore normal movement patterns. If necessary we will make recommendations on footwear and over the counter inserts to assist in correcting any structure or biomechanical abnormalities. In certain situations it may be necessary to consider using custom foot orthotics. If a custom orthotic is indicated we will create a cast of your feet. Using information from both the anatomical and biomechanical assessments a custom orthotic will be fabricated to further assist in the restoration of normal movement patterns.
